Mindful or indulgent? Why you shouldn't have to choose

The short answer: You shouldn't have to choose between a sweet you love and a sweet you chose with care. A hand-rolled ladoo with an open label and real ingredients lets you enjoy both. Crave it for the taste, and choose it for the craft.

Nourishment and indulgence belong together, and our nourishing ladoos are proof you needn't pick one.

There's an odd tension in how we talk about sweets. On one side: pure indulgence, no questions asked. On the other: careful, joyless, label-reading rigour. Real life doesn't live at either extreme.

Why does it feel like a trade-off?

Because most sweets have asked you to feel judged or to feel bored. Neither is fun. You either surrender your standards or surrender your pleasure, and neither is a good deal.

What's the alternative?

Ingredients you can name, sweetness you can trace and a treat that's actually delicious. Treat-making at its best has always been like that: patient, generous and made with intention.

What does "mindful" mean to us?

Mindful doesn't mean restrictive. It means knowing what's in your food, understanding how it's made and enjoying it with attention. A mindful sweet is one you can describe: what's in it, where it came from, who made it.

What does "indulgent" mean to us?

Flavour, texture and a little drama. Our ladoos are rich, deep and sometimes surprising: bittersweet cocoa, toasted hazelnut, creamy macadamia, bright pistachio. They're meant to be savoured, not rationed.

How do we hold both?

We start with real ingredients: dates, millets, seeds, cocoa and nuts. We roast and roll by hand. And we print everything on the label.

A fair note

Our ladoos are indulgences, sweetened by dates and jaggery.

They contain nuts or seeds and, in five of six, ghee.

A small practice

Take one ladoo. Put it on a plate. Sit down. Taste it slowly. That, in a sentence, is mindful indulgence.
